Reg-Lab Forms Two Committees from Federal and Local Entities to Review and License Legislations

The Regulations Lab “Reg-Lab” has formed two specialized committees that include federal and local entities to support the lab’s work, study and develop the proposed legislations while providing temporary licenses to implement innovative projects based on advanced technologies and artificial intelligence applications.
The two committees are “The Future Projects Committee” and “The Future Legislations Committee”. Both committees shall provide the Lab with advisory and legal support in way that enhances the pioneering position of the UAE as one of the leading future government labs in the world.
Headed by His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, the CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, the Future Projects Committee is mandated to review the applications submitted to the Reg-Lab as primary step before developing the relevant legislation. The Committee will provide its recommendations before submitting the application to the Cabinet to issue the relevant decision.
The Future Projects Committee includes representatives of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Dubai Future Foundation, the Executive Council of each Emirate, the Council of Artificial Intelligence, in addition to non-permanent members representing the government entities supervising the project.
The Future Legislations Committee, headed by the Assistant Secretary of the Cabinet, Mohamed Sultan Al-Obaidli, is mandated to provide legal and technical support to the draft legislation and develop the final draft.
The Future Legislations Committee includes representatives of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, the Supreme Council for National Security, the Supreme Legislation Committee of Dubai and the Executive Council of each Emirate, in addition to non-permanent members representing the public entities supervising the project and technical and legal experts.
His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq, Secretary General of the UAE Cabinet, said that forming the two committees within the Reg-Lab is a landmark step towards strengthening the cooperation and coordination between the Lab and federal and local entities for exchanging knowledge and expertise.
Bin Touq added: “The Reg-Lab is a platform for legislation experts from federal and local entities and the private sector. It aims at accelerating the legislation process and encouraging investments in future sectors in line with UAE Vision 2021, and UAE Centennial 2071”.
