UAE, October 31, 2023 - The UAE Regulations Lab (RegLab) and Harvard Business School (HBS) Club of the GCC announced the signing of a momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at catalysing innovation in the healthcare sector through regulatory sandbox development.

This collaboration represents a significant step towards aligning regulations with the rapid pace of technological advancements, fostering knowledge exchange, and driving positive social impact.

"The UAE Regulations Lab is committed to pioneering 'regulation innovation'” stated HE Maryam AlHammadi, Minister of State and Secretariat General of the UAE Cabinet. "Our collaboration with the HBS Club of the GCC reinforces our mission to accelerate the experimentation of emerging technologies in critical sectors like healthcare and developing related regulations"

RegLab, a ground-breaking initiative in regulations development for emerging technologies, has redefined the approach to governance in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by posing the question, "how might we design government for change?" RegLab has been instrumental in positioning the UAE as a global regulatory sandbox. The Reglab works alongside regulators, the private sector, innovators, and business leaders to co-create regulations that keep pace with the speed of innovation.

The HBS Club of the GCC, a non-profit organization comprising HBS alumni from diverse industry sectors, has been a driving force in promoting professional and personal growth among its members. With over 1500 regional and 400,000 global alumni, the club serves as a unique platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration.

"We are excited to partner with UAE Regulations Lab in our pursuit of fostering innovation in the GCC region," remarked Saleh Lootah, President of HBS Club of the GCC. "This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to contributing to the country's development through the power of knowledge exchange and social impact."

The MoU between RegLab and the HBS Club of the GCC signifies their shared intentions to collaborate on an experimental project. The primary goal of this partnership is to accelerate the adoption and implementation of innovative technologies in the healthcare sector by developing forward-thinking regulations. Additionally, this collaboration aims to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange within the healthcare sector and the HBS alumni community.

To kickstart this exciting partnership, a co-creation workshop will be created following the MoU signing to develop use cases together with key stakeholders, including from federal and local government entities, health organizations, technology partners and other relevant entities, to identify opportunities for patients in the UAE within the healthcare sector.

This strategic partnership will drive innovation, knowledge exchange, and positive change in the healthcare sector and beyond.
