Reglab is a UAE national regulatory sandbox, established in 2018 by Federal Decree Law No. (25) of 2018 on Projects of Future Nature. It supports and regulates projects of a future nature by authorising the UAE Cabinet to grant an interim license known as a Minimal Viable License (MVL) for projects related to emerging technologies.
Reglab was established to provide a secure regulatory sandbox to test innovative projects powered by emerging technology solutions. Working closely with legislative authorities, the private sector, innovators, and business leaders, Reglab actively contributes to the development of future-oriented legislation, It strives to maintain a balance between keeping pace with the accelerated breakthrough technologies and swiftly developing the legislation regulating them.
Reglab is open to receive applications from all types of industries, provided that the project is linked to advanced and emerging technologies, including but not limited to sectors like fintech, healthcare, mobility… Whatever industry you are in, you are eligible to apply.
Yes, Reglab is open to both local and foreign companies, as well as individuals.
Yes, companies and individuals based outside the UAE are eligible to apply to Reglab. If their project is approved, they can perform their experiments and testing within the UAE, provided that they comply with all relevant regulations and controls set by the UAE authorities.
The term of the granted interim licence is decided based on the scope and nature of the project. In most cases, a licence of 6 to 12 months is accorded.
Reglab framework does not offer financing programs for approved projects.
